Redeem the Time

Well, here we are in September already, where did the summer go? I am reminded of the Bobbi1Apostle Paul’s admonition to walk wisely and redeem the time because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:15-16).

We have had a wonderful summer together, we enjoyed plenty of fun in the pool and had a few short getaways to Northern Arizona (Prescott/Sedona). We celebrated Thea’s 15th birthday, Raymond’s 18th, and Andrew’s 10th. The kids are growing up so fast, we are careful to cherish these days we have together and we rejoice in the simple things that we can do as a family.

I know that for Bobbi and I, it is our duty as parents to raise our children to grow strong and become independent of us, but entirely dependent on God. That is no easy task in this society in which we live. As parents we must be ever watchful of every subtle trick of the enemy who seeks to rob our children of their inheritance in Christ Jesus our Lord. Everything seems to be drawing this young generation to a worldly life of grasping for all you can get and pleasing self. The odds seem stacked against us at times but we know that God is faithful and His work will appear unto His servants, and His glory to their children. (Psalm 90:16)

You know, you can and should teach your children the wisdom of the Bible and be a living demonstration of His ways before them but in the end they will have to go through the same tests and trials and make the same mistakes that you made before they come to the realization that they desperately need Jesus Christ. Once they come to that realization and turn in truth to Christ, then He comes in like a flood and and fills the heart with His faith, hope, and love. How glorious is the God of our salvation!

I am hopeful that as you read this you too will be stirred to see Jesus glorified again in our lives and in the lives of our children. Oh how we need Him, may He visit us in mercy.
